How-To: Remove Snow From Your Vehicle Without Damaging Your Paint

With snow in St. Charles, Wentzville, Chesterfield and all across St. Louis; this is how you can safely remove snow from your vehicle!

A red car is covered in snow and says how to safely remove snow from your vehicle

Removing snow can be a daunting task if you want to keep your car paint looking like new through winter. You do not want to spend all the nice months detailing your vehicle and keeping it in perfect shape just to scratch it up when removing snow. Luckily for you, I will be sharing the safest way to remove snow from your car!
Before we get started you will need a few different tools to complete the job. You can buy each of these online by clicking their link.

- Snow Broom

- BLO Dryer (Can be used to air dry your car as well)

- 2 Microfiber Towels

- Ice Scraper

Removing snow from your vehicle will always be easier if your car is protected with a
Ceramic Coating or recently had a wax applied. This is due to the hydrophobic nature of these protectants which does not allow water to stick to the surface as easily. As the snow and ice thaws, it will release from the paint easily.

Heavy Wet Snow

This is the hardest snow to remove as it can create a layer of ice on the paint and on the outside snow accumulation itself. This snow is also very heavy. The best way to remove this type of snow is to gently lift off small chunks and place them out of the way. If you cannot reach or do not want to use your hands, you can use a snow broom wrapped in microfiber towels. Gently dig into the snow a few inches, pull or push the snow off the car and be careful not to hit the paintwork. While you are removing the snow, you can preheat the car and run the heat on defrost to make de-icing the windows a breeze. Once you remove most of the snow, use your BLO Dryer to remove any excess. If there is any accumulation on the glass, gently remove it using the ice scraper.

Light and Fluffy Snow  This is the quickest and easiest way to remove snow from your vehicle. Plug in your BLO Dryer and blow off the snow starting at the roof and working your way to lower panels that have accumulation. While you are doing this, you can have your car warm up so it is ready to go once cleared of snow.
